The purpose of this documentary is to showcase the culture and community of automotive racing with people from all walks of life, drawn to the track for the thrill of victory or the drama of defeat. Every driver is fighting for the same goal, but each is going through different challenges to get there. Therefore, in this documentary, I made sure to cover several types of races or events portraying the racing lifestyle. Racing offers many opportunities for people to participate—anyone from a ten-year-old driving a side by side to a thirty-year-old drifting a Corvette. In order to immerse the audience in the stress, anticipation, and thrill of race days along with the culture, I photographed these races. Overall, this sport is driven by passion and grit, but most importantly, the desire to be the best.
This documentary focuses on the Florida International Rally & Motorsport Park, located in Starke, Florida. Covering this location was necessary because of the variety of races, drivers, and events that take place. My documentary exposes the true environment of track days. Anywhere from the joy of winning to the devastating reality of crashing in the first turn.
